Sara is a Mexican-Canadian documentary editor with a decade of experience in unscripted film and TV. Her work has showcased on networks such as Netflix, CBC, TVO, Discovery+, and shown internationally at film festivals.
Known for her sharp storytelling skills and keen ability to find the emotion and character in a narrative, she has worked closely with award-winning directors and producers on films and television series.
Notably, she made her debut as an editor with '3 Seconds Divorce,' a social justice documentary that streamed on Netflix and was an official selection at the Mumbai International Film Festival. Following this success, she edited 'Pandora's Box,' a feature documentary addressing menstrual equity, which premiered at the Whistler Film Festival and received the 'Special Jury Award' from the Alliance of Women Film Journalists.
Most recently, she worked on a mini docu-series for PBS Chicago capturing the personal stories of migrants as they search for a new life in a new city.
Her passion lies in amplifying voices from underrepresented communities, and she hopes to continue working on projects that push boundaries and create human connections.
She is a 2024 alumna of the Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellowship.
